Lensmaster Jewelsofawe Interview

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What makes you passionate about Squidoo.com?

Jewelsofawe: I love the way squidoo is set up. We can share whatever we want in a lens. The people here are a cool bunch of people. So, I would say everything.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Is Squidoo perfect already or what could make it better?

Jewelsofawe: Squidoo is pretty good, but of course I am sure it could improve. I just cannot think of how at the moment.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What inspires you to make a new lens?

Jewelsofawe: An idea pops into my head. If it stays with me I make it into a lens such as My Daily Om.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: How many lenses do you have?

Jewelsofawe: I have 78 lenses.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What is your most popular lens?

Jewelsofawe: This lens Billionaires-Want to be one? seems to get consistent traffic, even though it is not high on the ranks at this time. Right now Lucky-Our Rescue Cat shows up as my highest ranking lens, but that is because it just came off of lens of the day which was very exciting to get.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What one sentence or one word describes your success?

Jewelsofawe: Kindness.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What should a newbie do first?

Jewelsofawe: After making a lens, get around and comment on others lenses. I usually find most people by comments on my own or other lenses. I do click on comments on other people's lenses.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Which of your lenses do you want to make sure the whole world knows about?

Jewelsofawe: Reflections of my Soul because my poetry is why I decided to squidoo in the first place.

Thanksgiving Prayer - A Family Tradition

Freedom from Want

Since I last visited my favorite Thanksgiving lens, OhMe has added an Animoto slideshow where she puts together a cornucopia using her mother's plastic fruit. My cat was sleeping cozily beside my computer as I hit the play button. As soon as the slideshow began to play, the cat's peace was shattered. He just about jumped out of his skin! Beethoven's 5th at full blast is quite shocking to the unsuspecting, you know?

Anyway, at Thanksgiving Prayer - A Family Tradition, OhMe talks about her family, the traditions they try to keep, and the new ones they come up with as the family grows and changes. She gives you the sense that hers is a family in the truest sense of the word. Having come from a childhood where I never knew what the next day would bring, I greatly admire the sense of family that's evoked by this lens. So, on this day, I'd like to thank OhMe for connecting with us, her readers, by sharing this heartwarming story.

Special note to OhMe: I adore the poem entitled Grace For Thanksgiving Day by Alice Kennelly Roberts (and your story about it) that you placed on the lens. It's just beautiful -- I especially love the last two lines: Grant us the wisdom and the strength to lead a useful life. I will be reading this poem today at our Thanksgiving dinner. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, you wonderful Squids!

Lensmaster Dc64 Interview

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What makes you passionate about Squidoo.com?

Dc64: Have you ever started a conversation with someone, only to find that they are just not interested? They look bored, have nothing to contribute, and sometimes, even walk away in the middle of your sentence. It could be something that you feel quite passionate about, or that you are fascinated by, but they just stare at you. With Squidoo, you can put it all down, and not have to deal with someone "walking away". You've said your piece, you've expressed your feelings, and you find people who either feel the same way, or are at least intrigued by it. I like that. I also really like the community spirit, and meeting some amazing people I would never have met.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Is Squidoo perfect already or what could make it better?

Dc64: Perfection is difficult to attain, but how to make it better...not sure.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What inspires you to make a new lens?

Dc64: Interest, plain and simple. I have to be interested in the topic." Mysterious and Amazing History" was the very first lens I created. That stuff just really interested me.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: How many lenses do you have?

Dc64: Right now, I'm at 44, working on my 45th. [As of this posting, it's 49 total lenses]

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What is your most popular lens?

Dc64: My most popular lens keeps changing, but it has been "Life as a Foster Child" for about a month now.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What one sentence or one word describes your success?

Dc64: Surprise. (I didn't realize I was a success, so thanks!)

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What should a newbie do first?

Dc64: Browse the forum, and read, read, read! Then write about what moves you.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Which of your lenses do you want to make sure the whole world knows about?

Dc64: Probably "Life as a Foster Child", because it may help the adults understand what goes on in the mind of a child who is in that situation.

Cuban Vacation

White Sand Beach at Cayo Coco Keys, Ciego De Avila, Cuba

What I like about the travel lenses from AndyPo is that he gives you the information you're looking for as a traveler. At Cuban Vacation, you not only learn the great things about a vacation in Cuba, but that renting a car is expensive and "if you leave it people will wash it for you or guard it, then demand money on your return." And what other travel articles will just come right out and tell you about its having taken months to heal from bites inflicted during the night by some "swamp creatures"? Yet, he makes you still want to make the trek and experience the place for yourself. To top it off, this lens is wonderfully illustrated with lots of AndyPo's own photographs.

Lensmaster Ener-G Interview

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What makes you passionate about Squidoo.com?

Ener-G: I love to creatively write, but Squidoo offers the opportunity to be creative about making lenses. That was an instant hook for me. Because of my work with Crystalline Consciousness Technique (an energy protocol that works with group dynamics), I'm also fascinated by community, groups, tribes and how they evolve.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Is Squidoo perfect already or what could make it better?

Ener-G: Squidoo is almost as perfect as possible for a dynamic, growing system (but as the Amish say, "Only God is perfect.") I think its test is going to be what happens as it continues to grow and it gets 4th, 5th, and 6th generation Squids.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What inspires you to make a new lens?

Ener-G: I have an odd sense of humor which needs a good outlet (i.e. Strange But Real Businesses in Montana) and I get very passionate about making a difference in the world.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: How many lenses do you have?

Ener-G: Currently I have 50.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What is your most popular lens?

Ener-G: Are You An Unconscious Healer?

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What one sentence or one word describes your success?

Ener-G: I believe in the ultimate goodness of our Universe.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What should a newbie do first?

Ener-G: Jump in and don't be afraid to make mistakes or ask for help!

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Which of your lenses do you want to make sure the whole world knows about?

Ener-G: Gee, they're like my children. I love each and every one of them. I am passionate, however, about people understanding that they are energetic beings and to become responsible for that part of themselves. My lens Human Energy and What You Can Do With It begins to address this.

Christmas Coloring Fun

Set of Crayons

At our house, we have a new tradition where we make our own decorations for our Christmas tree. We make paper chains and popcorn chains. We draw, color and cut out our own "ornaments." It's just like in the days before you could go buy manufactured Christmas decor for the home. The children love this tradition, and I love seeing them enjoy it! Patische has created a lens, Christmas Coloring Fun, where you'll find lots of recommendations for having fun coloring during the holidays. There are even some already-drawn ornaments you can color, cut out and hang on the tree -- plus, a page with blank "bulbs" for drawing in your own ornamentation. Neat!

Lensmaster Rockycha Interview

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What makes you passionate about Squidoo.com?

Rockycha: Squidoo is the most amazing site and group of people - I'm passionate about Squidoo because it affords anyone the opportunity to share their passions and ideas in a free forum while at the same time offering the potential for an "at home" income. In addition, quite literally, the sky is the limit - there's unbounded potential to express all of our passions continually through this amazing and adaptable medium. It's such a blessing and because there is such freedom and ease in lens creation, anyone can be a success.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Is Squidoo perfect already or what could make it better

Rockycha: In my mind, it's pretty perfect. It would be very cool to have customizable colors for our lenses in terms of the basic squidoo page format, but I'm certainly not complaining - Squidoo.com's lenses are extremely well formatted and already have good visual appeal.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What inspires you to make a new lens?

Rockycha: I especially enjoy watching trends in children's toys. I'm definitely a kid at heart! When I'm skipping through the kid's channels and cartoon shows, I usually come across some toy commercials and enthusiastically exclaim: "I want one of those!" I suppose it sounds pretty strange for a 50 year old lady to be this interested in toys, but I can't help myself - fun is fun!

Squidoo Lens Reviews: How many lenses do you have?

Rockycha: I currently have 59 lenses and 13 in progress.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What is your most popular lens?

Rockycha: My most popular lens is UB Funkeys - it's a group of little toy characters that also connect to your computer and lets kids play games and travel around different worlds, either online or stand alone.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What one sentence or one word describes your success?

Rockycha: A willingness to learn and research. Association with Squidoo.com is a continual process of learning: marketing, web design, social skills and consumer trends and interests. It's very much like learning a new language - everything is both a process of discovery and development of skills.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What should a newbie do first?

Rockycha: Read and study successful lensmasters. I don't claim to be very successful with squidoo at all by comparison. I'm still learning from lensmasters that produce many more lenses and generate much better income through their efforts. In addition to learning lensbuilding skills, learning the secrets of marketing your lenses is just as important.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Which of your lenses do you want to make sure the whole world knows about?

Rockycha: Letter to My Family and Friends is my most important lens and the very center of my heart. Pretty much all of my other lenses are meant for having fun!

Spoon

I have to thank MobyD for his lens on Spoonerisms. He brought back some great memories of my father. Daddy used to make us laugh all the time telling us about his favorite rabbit, Buns Buggy, or telling us the story of the Pee Little Thrigs. He did it so well; he had us in stitiches quite a bit. Now, my grandson gets a kick out of me doing it! This is a well-crafted lens with lots of information on spoonerisms and even a couple of spoonerism fairy tales: Rindercella and Beeping Sleauty.

Bergen Belsen

Yes to Freedom

Lensmaster Mugshot takes an emotional journey to Bergen Belsen, the scene of some of the most horrendous acts ever committed by human beings upon other human beings. Mugshot's grandfather was one of the first of the allies to set foot inside the newly-liberated camp. His grandfather didn't say much about his time there. But, his grandson did learn enough to know that he had to go there himself to pay his respects. Reading this story, one of the things that stood out was that the wall plaques are in German. Why not other languages? I also wonder why it was so hard just to reach Bergen Belsen. He goes through two taxis to get there. The first one drops him off 3km from Bergen Belsen, and the final one has the extra time to be on call for him to phone her to come pick him up when he has finished his tour -- where he sometimes found himself alone in his wanderings. Where were the people? Being so hard to get to, for Mugshot, was indicative of how being in a hard-to-reach location made it easier for the atrocities to be carried out. Its location now seems to be a handy way to discourage visitors. Maybe now it's a place for only the strongest of the strong.

Our Deepest Fear - Inspirational Poem By Marianne Williamson

Love Simply

Have you ever read something so powerful that goosebumps ran up and down your spine? That happened when I read Marianne Williamson's quotation about our deepest fear being that we are "powerful beyond measure." She said, "It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." The whole passage is very inspirational and motivational. Goosebumps everywhere! I have two of her books (including A Return To Love which contains the quotation) in my home and will no doubt have more. I have found this author to be The One. The one that can motivate and encourage more so than any other "guru." Christian and non-Christian. New Giant Squid, Icjackson has created the lens, Our Deepest Fear - inspirational Poem by Marianne Williamson, so that others will find this book passage and be inspired the way it has inspired countless others. Among other things, you'll find polls, book recommendations and some interesting trivia.

Lensmaster CrypticFragments Interview

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What makes you passionate about Squidoo.com?

CrypticFragments: Squidoo has been a platform to share my interests, passions, and knowledge as well as my art and writings. It has taught me a lot about networking and using internet tools which were not available when I was in school. It has also introduced me to many fine creative kind people.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Is Squidoo perfect already or what could make it better?

CrypticFragments: To be honest, I have not been happy about many aspects of Squidoo. I think there should be a better filter for quality, and definitely a different lensrank system. I do not feel it's fair that someone who posts a link to a crap lens on a high traffic forum and gets everyone to visit and vote for it should be ranked higher, ergo getting better pay, than a quality lens which receives little traffic.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What inspires you to make a new lens?

CrypticFragments: Having something which needs to be said. I am seriously thinking of focusing on creating a new lens/series of lenses which focuses on these... the America I see where presidential candidates promote hatred based on race and religion in a country which is supposed to be free, progressive and hold a place of importance in THE WORLD (over 98% of which is against the political right).

Or showcasing a new set of products or design/art venture.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: How many lenses do you have?

CrypticFragments: Well, I have created 132 as CrypticFragments, and about a dozen as GypsyGirl68.
I recently sold 2/3 of my CrypticFragments account and am only keeping the ones about myself, my art/design, writings etc.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What is your most popular lens?

CrypticFragments: By popular I am assuming you mean highest ranked.
As CrypticFragments, it is Domestic Violence Info and Resources. As GypsyGirl68, it is Weird 80s Music Videos.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What one sentence or one word describes your success?

CrypticFragments: Try try try and keep trying as you read and learn from the masters/SquidU etc.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What should a newbie do first?

CrypticFragments: Create a quality lens...lots of content on a valid pertinent topic which has not been done 20 times already...then polish it, editing for grammar, semantics, adding relevant affiliate product links... add it to Squidoo directories, submit it to search engines, and let the world know about it.

Squidoo Lens Reviews: Which of your lenses do you want to make sure the whole world knows about?
