Baseball is Back. Life is Good!

BASEBALL LOGO card
I am 'passionate' about the game of baseball -- major league, minor league, little league - I love it all. With Opening Day of the 2011 MLB Baseball Season less than a month away, my joy for "The Boys of Summer" returns.

For my final review for Squidoo Lens Review, I wanted to choose a baseball-related lens. The problem became choosing 'just one', which I found impossible to do. There so are many excellent stories on Squidoo about America's pastime that I decided to recognize several I found outstanding.

Spring Training is in full swing, and avid baseball and St. Louis Cardinal fan Mary Beth (mbgphoto) is currently in Jupiter, Florida soaking up the sunshine and watching her Cardinals get ready for the 2011 season -- St. Louis Cardinal Spring Training.

Bev of BevsPaper has been a baseball fan since childhood. Her baseball story is about one of the all-time 'greats' of baseball, the 'Say Hey Kid'-- Willie Mays A Baseball Legend.

Baseball may be my 'passion', but 'baseball fields for children and the community' is the passion for Nancy (OhMe on Squidoo). Nancy has helped organize events in her small town of Pendleton, SC to raise money to rebuild the baseball fields in Veteran's Park through a project called "Step Up To The Plate". She has also written several Squidoo lenses about this project and worked to have "Friends of the Park" approved as an official Squidoo Charity. To date, more than $26,000 has been raised, with $1,733.53 coming from Squidoo and generous lensmasters. Read all about how one small town resident has found a way to make people work together to 'make a difference' in Step Up To The Plate For Veterans Park in Pendleton SC.

Ellen (Greekgeek on Squidoo) wrote a very special baseball lens .... the story of how a baseball player changed the world -- Jackie Robinson: The Story of an American Hero Even if you are not a baseball fan, you will be impressed with this story, as it is more than the story about a baseball player; it is the story that reminds us why it's worth remembering the lesson he taught America.

There are many more fabulous baseball stories on Squidoo. For fans... and more, it would be worth your while to check them out.

  3. Very nice last post, Miss Pat. Really happy to see Mary Beth's work recognized. She's been one of the blog's biggest supporters, and her work on Squidoo is fabulous. Congratulations, and well-deserved "blessings" to all four of these wonderful writers.
