An Inspiration Celebrates His 84th Birthday

Spring Sunset Happy Birthday card

There are normally only a handful of people in our lives that have a profound effect on who we are as people. There are many that teach us something or help us grow in an area of our life, but there are few people who shape who we are. Sometimes these people are teachers, sometimes they are family friends, a spouse, and if we're lucky they are our parents.

I've had the pleasure of having my grandparents be two of those people. My granny and papa would give you the shirt off of their back if you needed it. They helped so many people in their lives. I think of all the people they helped, the ones they helped the most were perhaps the ones they didn't even realize they helped. My grandparents had no idea how much they helped shape my character. They taught me compassion, they taught me how to love, they helped me understand that there was nothing wrong with a little hard work.

Both my grandparents are gone now and I wish I could tell them just how much they helped me. I'm sure they know, but I'd like to be sure. Lensmaster callinsky has made sure that special person in her life knows how much they have helped shape who she is. Her special person is her father, Pops as she calls him, she lets him know that he is her Inspiration.

When I read My Inspiration a few days ago I couldn't tear my eyes from the page. Each story she shares is a beautiful story about a lesson her father taught her. Each story she told reminded me more and more of my grandpa. I felt such a deep connection to her and to her father immediately, you just can't help but connect when her writing style is so captivating. Her writing style is one of those storyteller styles that makes you feel like you're talking to her face to face.

This lens (article) is so very special on it's own, but add the fact that she wrote it to wish her father a Happy Birthday makes it that much more special. So head on over there already and wish Mr. Callinsky a happy 84th birthday.

  1. That is a heartwarming tribute to her grandfather, Crystal. And you are so right; the people in our lives teach us so much and make us who we are. I liked Mr. Callinsky telling his daughter that she was "choosing" something -- that's a powerful message.

  2. Callinsky is a great new writer on Squidoo and that lens is one in a million. Thanks for spreading the word about it. And, by the way, hearing you speak of what your grandparents taught you, without their even knowing it, gave me chills. They obviously taught through their actions, which is the best way to teach.

  3. Mr Callinsky sounds like a wise man and a wonderful father. He certainly seems to have taught many valuable life lessons to his daughter, and it's clear she cherishes them and him. Thanks for sharing this with us.
