The #1 tip I would give would be to read lots of lenses by different lensmasters about different topics. See what looks right and what looks wrong and learn from their lenses.
My first tip would be to hang out at SquidU and ask a lot of questions. The Squidoo community is perhaps the most supportive one I've ever been a part of.
I have recently witnessed lensmaster SuzeShine go through this process and I believe she is well on her way to becoming a sucessful lensmaster.
Jump right into the forum. Don't just sit back and read - ask, answer, give your opinion, and make yourself seen.
