During the gift-giving season, we have been known to give out chess sets. To my way of thinking, they make great gifts. Lensmaster The_Book_Garden has created a lens with "Chess Variations - Various Derivitives of Traditional Chess." The experienced will learn new ways to play and children and newbies will find ways to jump right in and start learning.
The great thing about chess variations and alternatives to orthodox chess is that they can really level the abilities of players to allow you to challenge a much more experienced player and possibly win!
