Thanksgiving Prayer - A Family Tradition

Freedom from Want

Since I last visited my favorite Thanksgiving lens, OhMe has added an Animoto slideshow where she puts together a cornucopia using her mother's plastic fruit. My cat was sleeping cozily beside my computer as I hit the play button. As soon as the slideshow began to play, the cat's peace was shattered. He just about jumped out of his skin! Beethoven's 5th at full blast is quite shocking to the unsuspecting, you know?

Anyway, at Thanksgiving Prayer - A Family Tradition, OhMe talks about her family, the traditions they try to keep, and the new ones they come up with as the family grows and changes. She gives you the sense that hers is a family in the truest sense of the word. Having come from a childhood where I never knew what the next day would bring, I greatly admire the sense of family that's evoked by this lens. So, on this day, I'd like to thank OhMe for connecting with us, her readers, by sharing this heartwarming story.

Special note to OhMe: I adore the poem entitled Grace For Thanksgiving Day by Alice Kennelly Roberts (and your story about it) that you placed on the lens. It's just beautiful -- I especially love the last two lines: Grant us the wisdom and the strength to lead a useful life. I will be reading this poem today at our Thanksgiving dinner. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, you wonderful Squids!
