
It never occurred to me how important breathing is until I started having "episodes." These episodes manifested and progressed during my days in a corporate job that I had come to detest. My breathing would become so shallow that my chest would ache. It got so bad that I couldn't take a deep breath without consciously making the effort -- and that failed more times than not. I would long for bedtime so that I could sleep it off. When it started hitting me in the shower, I knew the job was toast.
